  2. I am a bit bummed out that you guys are having other Qualifiers feed into this event. As someone who’d be travelling from far away to make it, the idea of not necessarily having a shot at the WMW Qualifier is less than ideal. Obviously it’s sweet that you guys are hosting an event of this size and that you have a WMW Qualifier at all, (compared to people’s options last year), but given the format it’s hard for me to get excited about it. The Qualifier is clearly not the only draw for your event and I don’t want to take away from it, but you are discouraging WMW-focused out of towners (Danbury is a 6-hour drive for me) from making the trip. I get that hosting a big 64-man Qualifier may seem like too big of a headache, and can definitely see the appeal of hosting a smaller invitational as you are doing.

That said, I wish you guys all the luck. While I won’t be attending, I’ll certainly be watching 🙂

    • Marc,

We definitely understand the frustration, and we would love to have you come down! First off, perhaps you didn’t realize there is an LCQ the night before? If not, just so your clear, you have a chance to come in the day before (Saturday) and gain a spot in the 16 man qualifier on Sunday. So that may be an option.

Our goal was two fold; first, to make this a Northeast centric event, where it ‘felt’ like a qualifier that would represent the best of our regional circuit of events and second to really bring more attention to some of the awesome regional events that are out there! We think this plan accomplishes that. That said, we didn’t want to take the opportunity for somebody like yourself to come down on the weekend and make a run at it, which is why we made the DOI LCQ the day before.

Overall, a player of your caliber is certainly capable of coming down for the weekend and taking home the prize. Also, with a 6 hour drive, would you really be travelling down and back in the same day for an event that would likely take 10 hours? Staying for the second day may well work out better, all things considered!

Fair to say that we definitely do our best to make it worth your while, giving away not one, but TWO free armies… AND a free trip to WMW!!!

Lastly, there is always an opportunity given you are within long range striking distance to shoot down for a regional qualifier and lock up your spot in the DOI!

Feel free to contact us with more questions, and maybe we can still convince you to take a shot and come down… 😀
